She holds a bachelor's, master's, and doctorate in Physics from the São Carlos Physics Institute - University of São Paulo (USP), specializing in optical techniques and photonics. Since 2001, she has become a researcher at Embrapa Instrumentação, São Carlos / SP, where she is also currently the Deputy Head of Technology Transfer, which covers the innovation and business agenda with private companies. Her research area at Embrapa is optics and photonics applied to agriculture and the environment and since 2003 she has led the CNPq research group "Optics applied to agriculture and the environment". In 2021, under her coordination, she approved the first National Agro-photonics Laboratory (Lanaf), supported by the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation, within the SISFOTON initiative (SISFOTON is the National System of Photonic Laboratories, which is a Brazilian government initiative to promote the development of photonic technologies in the country). She works with the development of methods, sensors, and equipment for analyzing soils, plants, fertilizers, and foods. In this line, he highlights his unprecedented work, worldwide, in the development of a method and automated equipment using optical emission spectroscopy with laser-induced plasma - LIBS - for quantifying carbon, nutrients, and contaminants in the soil, as well as the development of portable systems for the early diagnosis of plant diseases in the field. The know-how developed on the applications of the LIBS technique for soil analysis generated a spin-off of Lanaf, Agrorobótica. In an open innovation partnership with Agrorobótica, she developed the AgLIBS system, which in 2018 was licensed to the company. The Lanaf students and postdocs who worked on the project were absorbed by the company, which today has 30 employees and works with soil analyses for all Brazilian regions. The company collects royalties for Embrapa Instrumentação and continues with new projects in partnership. She has around 500 published works, 140 of which are in indexed international journals with more than 4500 citations. As part of her role as Head of Technology Transfer, she was decisive in increasing the portfolio of projects in open innovation and/or in partnership with private companies. In four years the number of this type of project went from 25% to more than 65% of Embrapa Instrumentação's projects. Also, noteworthy is his work supporting the development of startups, in conjunction with investors and Venture Capital.
