Addressing gender and climate change adaptation in Viet Nam’s agriculture sector

In the Bến Tre province of Viet Nam’s Mekong Delta region, women farmers comprise the majority of agricultural workers, as men migrate to cities for work. This video explores the role of gender in addressing climate change adaptation in Viet Nam’s agriculture sector, through the global program, Integrating Agriculture in National Adaptation Plans (NAP-Ag).

According to the global climate risk index, Viet Nam is one of the ten nations most vulnerable to climate change impacts, with typhoons and other extreme weather events on the increase. Another concern is rising sea levels, which leads to saline intrusion, destroying rice fields and other crops.

Coordinated by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), NAP-Ag aims to address climate change adaptation concerns related to the agriculture sector in 11 developing countries' existing national planning and budgeting processes.
