Catalyzing digital agriculture in Mongolia: Enhancing vegetable production

Mongolia is the least densely populated country in the world. Therefore, collecting and accessing reliable and timely information is a challenge. Use of digital tools can improve the efficiency and productivity of agricultural practices. FAO is supporting Mongolia to promote digital agriculture through the National E-agriculture Strategy and deploying digital solutions in the agrifood sector. The vegetable growers’ digital platform developed with the support of FAO is an extensive system that comprises plant tracing and agrochemical registration. Thereby, consumers enjoy better traceability, reliability and safety of vegetables. In addition, the digitally aggregated data offers comprehensive overview that aids future policy-making and implementation. Digital agriculture can enhance food production and ensure that everyone benefits from emerging technologies and innovations. Leading to better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life for all.
