Building a new vision
To define the 10-year strategy for Mediterranean and Black Sea fisheries and aquaculture, the GFCM conducted consultations with a wide array of stakeholders and partners to gather their input and priorities.
Brainstorming on how to ensure the sustainability of fisheries and aquaculture in the region On 3 November 2020, more than 20 ministers met under the umbrella of the GFCM to discuss pressing priorities, marking the first step of the participatory process to build together a new strategy for sustainable fisheries and aquaculture in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea.
Endorsement of the GFCM 2030 Strategy A high-level event was held in July 2021 for Mediterranean and Black Sea countries to endorse the new strategy. Ahead of this meeting, high-level stakeholders from across the region met to review the implementation the RPOA-SSF, assessing new challenges and opportunities for the sector in the context of implementing the GFCM 2030 strategy.
