Research programmes

© FAO/Nicoletta Milone

The research programmes that AdriaMed sustained or fostered encompassed all the dimensions of fisheries and aquaculture, including environmental sustainability and resource sustainable exploitation, technological advancements and social and economic features.

The majority of the research programmes promoted by AdriaMed involves research institutions from all Adriatic countries in joint studies dealing with fisheries and aquaculture. This approach contributed to creating a unique framework of cooperation in which experts from the Adriatic could jointly address the main emerging issues in support of management.

Through a multidisciplinary and multilevel approach, the scientific and empirical information, under the AdriaMed cooperative approach, fuels the management process, ensuring that it is based on sound science, and that the findings contribute to balance the multiple needs of societies and without jeopardising the opportunities for future generations.
