As part of its programme “Supporting AFR100 by engaging with small-scale forest and farm producers”, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), with financial support from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ), is stepping up efforts to restore degraded lands and forests in Togo.

On 18 September 2025, a dedicated capacity-building session was held in Accra, Ghana, on the margins of the regional Landscape Monitoring Accelerator (LMA) workshop. It brought together Monitoring and Evaluation focal points and project officers from the six beneficiary countries of the programme Supporting AFR100 by engaging with small-scale forest and farm producers.

The regional Landscape Monitoring Accelerator (LMA) workshop brought together more than 60 participants from 14 African countries to strengthen national capacities for monitoring forest and landscape restoration. Co-organized by the World Resources Institute (WRI) and AUDA-NEPAD, with support from FAO and other partners, the workshop promoted peer learning, technical training, and strategic planning under the African Forest Landscape Restoration Initiative (AFR100).

On 29–30 May 2025, over 60 stakeholders gathered at the E4Impact Entrepreneurship Centre in Nairobi to address a pressing challenge: how can we finance the entrepreneurs restoring Kenya’s landscapes? Co-hosted by FAO and E4Impact under the AFR100 initiative, the two-day event focused on bridging the gap between nature-based enterprises and the finance they need to scale.

The AFR100 Programme Capacity-Development and Knowledge-Sharing Workshop, convened on 10–14 February 2025, at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Rome, marked a significant milestone in advancing Africa’s ambitious restoration commitments. The workshop gathered representatives from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Togo and the United Republic of Tanzania.

A new programme that will empower forest and farm producers to restore degraded forest and land across Africa has been launched today by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in collaboration with the government of Kenya, Baringo and Elgeyo Marakwet counties.  In addition to Kenya the project will be implemented in five other countries in Africa.

A new programme empowering forest and farm producers to accelerate restoration-based value-added innovation, focusing on Africa, was launched today by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Togo, one of six countries that will participate in the initiative. The four-year, multi-partner programme will support the implementation of the  African Forest Landscape Restoration Initiative (AFR100) of the African Union with EUR 40 million from the Government of Germany.
