The programme was tasked with helping Burkina Faso to diversity and prioritize its agricultural commodities for a new agrifood policy framework.

The programme closes the year having helped the governments of Bangladesh, Mozambique, Rwanda and Zimbabwe to reform a number of policies on food and agriculture, and has received 8 new requests for policy analysis throughout the year.

The team attended the Second Session of the Committee on Nuts at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to present an analysis of the cashew price formula to recommend possible areas for improvement.

MAFAP team held meetings with the Ministry of Planning and Development on support to its medium-term investment plan, as well as the Policy Studies Institute to partner with to understand nutrition-sensitive public expenditure on food and agriculture.

FAO’s Agrifood Economics and Policy Division, through its MAFAP team, is working with FAO’s Food and Nutrition Division and the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) to develop least-cost contextually appropriate healthy diets for subnational groups in Ethiopia.
