A five-week virtual training course organized by the JP GTA in May-June 2022 provided the first ever opportunity for employees of the Rome-based Agencies and EU Delegations to jointly learn in a concerted and structured manner about social norms concepts and norms-shifting approaches for gender equality and women’s empowerment.

To share the preliminary findings of a social norms diagnostic study conducted by the JP GTA and CARE International in Malawi, review their implications and determine possible programme adjustments, CARE facilitated a two-day reflection and Outcome Mapping workshop in Lilongwe in May 2022.

More than 30 representatives of Ecuador’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and the Decentralized Autonomous Governments of Manabí and Tosagua participated in WFP’s "Training of Trainers in Food Security and Nutrition" workshop, organized in the framework of the JP GTA.

Marking International Women's Day 2022, the JP GTA and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of Ecuador highlighted their collaboration through the launch of the ‘Mesa Mujer Rural’, a national initiative aimed at promoting the voices of rural women leaders.  

In the context of the JP GTA, FAO is working with CARE International to develop guidance on integrating the gender transformative perspective in programming in each phase of the project cycle.

The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) has launched the first of a series of technical webinars aiming to support the scale-up of gender transformative activities within its project portfolio though practical how-to-do sessions.

Colleagues from the United Nations Rome-based Agencies and the European Union participated in a workshop on the Social Analysis and Action in Food and Nutrition Security methodology to transform gender and social norms through a community-led participatory process.

In two multi-session workshops, participants immersed themselves in concepts, exercises and debates revolving around the Social Norms Exploration Tool (SNET), a participatory methodology for investigating the informal, unwritten rules that govern the way people behave and interact within their communities.

The Government of Ecuador and the United Nations Rome-based Agencies have officially launched the JP GTA in Ecuador, where the three agencies will implement innovative approaches to address the root causes of gender inequalities in collaboration with and through financial support from the European Union.
