At the initiative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), an informational event took place in the Batken Region to evaluate the outcomes of the artificial glacier construction project. The glaciers were built with the support of the United Nations Secretary‑General’s Peacebuilding Fund.

On 5 March, the meeting of the Project Steering Committee for the initiative “Implementation of the National Biosafety Framework for the Kyrgyz Republic in Compliance with the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety” was held in the conference hall of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of Kyrgyzstan.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) took part in a consultation to discuss the results of the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework under Priority Area III: “Climate, Environment, Energy, and Disaster Risk Management.”

In Kyrgyzstan technical workshop builds on previous work and aims to bring together the multi-sectoral experts within the Technical Task Team to develop preliminary evidence-based nutrition targets that will inform the subsequent development of National Dietary Guidelines. 

A seminar on the application of risk level assessment criteria in the area of phytosanitary supervision was held in Bishkek. The event took place on 11 February and aimed to strengthen the capacity of phytosanitary supervision specialists to use risk‑based approaches when assessing the activities of business entities.

It aims to reinforce the institutional foundations of school feeding and support the adoption of modern approaches to providing schoolchildren with safe and diverse food.

The three-day training course took place from 28 to 30 January in Osh. Participants included staff of Farmer Service Centres and leaders of agricultural cooperatives from Osh, Jalal-Abad and Batken regions of Kyrgyzstan.

To ensure a systematic and sustainable approach to forest restoration, the Kyrgyz Association of Forest and Land Users (KAFLU), with the support of the Forest Service and in close cooperation with FAO experts, has developed Forest Plantation Establishment Plans (FPEPs) that integrate climate change adaptation approaches and technologies.

Under the FAO project “Carbon Sequestration through Climate Investments in Forests and Pastures in Kyrgyzstan” (CS–FOR), the Community Development and Investment Agency (ARIS), acting as the project's operational partner, handed over office equipment and pasture monitoring tools to Community Landscape Management Groups.

Modern laboratory equipment, consumables, mobile laboratory kits, and a fully equipped boat will enable specialists to conduct on-site assessments of fish populations directly at the lakes. Furthermore, an additional equipment set, including a portable photometer for water quality analysis and a dissolved oxygen meter, was provided to the Centre for Veterinary Diagnostics and Expertise.

The event took place on 16 December and was organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) jointly with the Veterinary, Development of Livestock, Pastures and Feed Service under the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic. 

To strengthen the country's capacity, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) conducted a training workshop from 17 to 19 December, dedicated to investigating foodborne disease outbreaks.

This technical assistance is provided within the framework of the FAO project “Implementation of the National Biosafety Mechanism in accordance with the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety.” The project has been implemented in Kyrgyzstan since 2023 with financial support from the Global Environment Facility.

On 10 December, the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic hosted the inception workshop for the FAO project “Support in Scaling Up the Application of Digital Damage and Loss Assessment in Agriculture.”

On 5 December 2025, a tree-planting event was held in the Kara-Kemer Gorge of Ton District, Issyk-Kul Region, as part of the national “Jashyl Muras” campaign. The event brought together the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Forest Service, local authorities, and community members. 

The foundation for work in the area of biosafety is the FAO project “Implementation of the National Biosafety Framework in the Kyrgyz Republic in accordance with the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety.” Funded by the Global Environment Facility, the project aims to assist Kyrgyzstan in developing and implementing national biosafety mechanisms.

To strengthen and enhance the environmental sustainability of inclusive value chains of non-wood forest products (NWFPs) in Kyrgyzstan, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), together with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and with the support of the Forest Service under the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic, held a two-day national workshop.

In honor of this international date, a scientific-practical conference was held in Bishkek at the Kyrgyz National Agrarian University named after K. I. Skryabin. The event was organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in collaboration with the Kyrgyz Soil Science Society named after academician A. M. Mamytov and aimed to draw attention to the issue of protecting and improving soil health.

The event served as a platform for sharing knowledge and experience among students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology, young scientists, teachers, and representatives of the scientific community. The central theme was the impact of AMR on human and animal health, food systems, and the agricultural sector.

On 22 November, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) held a unique and truly heartwarming event – an FAO Family Day dedicated to the Organization's 80th anniversary.
