In placing the production, distribution and marketing models of smallholders and family farming at the centre of interventions, the OCOP helps countries leverage their potential and identify the special agricultural products adapted to their agroecological production systems and national or cultural heritage, ensuring improved access to stable markets and acting as a key entry point for reaching their defined priorities.
Since the launch of the OCOP in September 2021, over 70 Members from all five regions have expressed their strong, preliminary interest in promoting the green development of over 50 special agricultural products.

Pilot Countries
With over 80 countries, OCOP spans over all regions and promotes Special Agricultural Products (SAPs) through targeted projects as well as joint activities with other programmes and initiatives, to progressively mainstream the development of SAPs.
All FAO Members are encouraged to join the OCOP and submit proposals based on their own demand, priorities and comparative advantage.
