FAO’s One Country One Priority Product initiative supports beekeepers and honey producers in Rwanda and Viet Nam

The One Country One Priority Product Secretariat produces a quarterly newsletter that provides an overview of the gathering momentum of implementation for the One Country One Priority Product Initiative (OCOP).

The workshop aimed to present the results of the value chain analysis, the upgrading strategy, and a national action plan. The participants engaged in discussions to develop a comprehensive roadmap outlining potential partnerships, resource allocation, and implementation strategies. 

The Agrilnnovate Exhibition is organized from 14 to 17 May 2024 at the Atrium of FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy, under the umbrella of the 34th Session of the Regional Conference for Europe (ERC34), hosted by the Republic of Moldova.

The second meeting for the Steering Committee of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on the implementation of One Country One Priority Product (OCOP) initiative held today, took stock of the major results achieved, discussed current priorities and next steps.

China has launched the One Country One Priority Product (OCOP) China Tea Programme and the International Tea Day Campaign 2024 with a launch event held on 12 April in Dongguan, Guangdong province.

Key stakeholders and representatives from 11 project countries convened virtually to launch a new project aimed at expanding the FAO One Country One Priority Product (OCOP) Initiative. The inception workshop, held on 3 April 2024, focused on discussing project objectives, expected outputs and major activities, as well as reviewing the detailed work plan and budget for the project implementation. 

The innovative geographical and environmental traceability tool will link consumers and growers of special agricultural products (SAPs) to promote their unique qualities and cultural importance.

Speakers emphasized the vital role of science, innovation, and technology in enhancing the lives and livelihoods of farming communities, aimed at ensuring the availability of nutritious food for our people.

During the FAO Regional Management Team Meeting 2024, Congo, Ethiopia, Lesotho, and Malawi shared success stories on how they are promoting special agricultural products under the FAO One Country One Priority Product (OCOP) initiative, turning strategies into action for resilient agrifood systems in Africa.

FAO, through its global One Country One Priority Product programme, has launched a project to support Albania in implementing a comprehensive programme to monitor Asian chestnut gall wasps, prepare a biological control plan and build capacity among local farmers and extension officers.

Representatives from more than 50 countries convened virtually for the 2023 Annual Meeting of the FAO OCOP initiative on 18 December 2023. The main objectives of the OCOP Annual Meeting were to review the key outputs and achievements of the OCOP implementation globally and identify the key priorities and next steps for the initiative.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in partnership with Albania’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, have recently launched in Albania the FAO One Country, One Priority Product (OCOP) programme aimed at transforming agrifood systems. Through establishing sustainable chestnut value chains, the project in Albania will foster economic growth and enable community empowerment in the pilot region of northern Tropoja. 

Over 100 representatives from government, academia, development organizations, farmers, traders, and exporters gathered in Tashkent on 14 December to discuss progress and priorities for the sweet cherry sector in Uzbekistan.  The National Annual Meeting on the implementation of the One Country One Priority Product (OCOP) Initiative in Uzbekistan, was organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Uzbekistan.  

Türkiye has taken a major step forward to promote fig as its special agricultural product under the One Country One Priority Product (OCOP) initiative of FAO. The national launch event took place in the Fig Research Institute in Aydın, Türkiye on 7-8 December, jointly organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the FAO Country Office in Türkiye.
