The Intergovernmental Technical Working Group on Plant Genetic Resources was established by the Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture at its Seventh Sessioni n 1997, to address issues specific to plant genetic resources for food and agriculture. The secretariat of the ITWG-PGRFA lies with FAO's  Plant Production and Protection Division (NSP) in FAO Headquarters.
