NSP holds its first ever webinar on ethics

Rome, 07 July 2023 - Following the outcomes of the 2022 Employee Satisfaction Survey (E2S), launched on 21 March to over 14,000 employees, the Plant Production and Protection Division (NSP) discussed the results and organized its first ever webinar on ethics as one of the follow-up actions. Over fifty participants connected to listen to Seorim Kim, FAO Ethics Officer, present on the Organization’s activities on conduct, constructive communication and collaboration among colleagues.

Jingyuan Xia, NSP Director, welcomed Ms Kim and invited all participants to listen carefully, encouraging an active engagement. Director Xia highlighted the important of ethics in achieving One Dynamic NSP, in alignment with the corporate policy of One Dynamic FAO. He underlined the successful renovation of the Organization by the Director-General, QU Dongyu, during his first mandate. One Dynamic FAO will be further strengthened for improved internal solidarity and external visibility. Director Xia also shared that NSP is strong, dynamic and has improved its visibility during the current biennium.

 

Seorim Kim, Ethics Senior Officer, facilitated the session by introducing NSP employees to the basics of ethics in FAO. She underlined the concepts of sound ethics and sound integrity, which support the sustainability of the Organization’s work, image and reputation. Ms Kim introduced also a hypothetical scenario to spark a dialogue among NSP employees, who actively engaged in this exercise. The overall outcome of the meeting was a heightened understanding of ethics within FAO and in a professional environment.

Director Xia commented on the positive participation, active engagement and excellent feedback from the division for this first ever webinar on ethics, and he hoped for more throughout the remainder of the year. Deputy Director Chikelu Mba, recently appointed, also joined Jingyuan Xia in expressing his positive feedback on the event, underlining the importance of maintaining an open mind and the understanding of good will among all NSP colleagues. He mentioned that this may help improving the already-excellent levels of communication within NSP. The Director and Deputy Director jointly thanked the colleagues from the Ethics Division and Seorim Kim for her excellent facilitation.
