Indian and European students network engaged in DO GOOD: SAVE FOOD! projects

Eumind (Europe meets India) is a network of schools aimed at facilitating learning across the borders. It creates and supervises virtual exchange projects in which Indian and European students work together on real-life issues such as sustainability, human rights and arts & culture.

Among other projects done by students on various subjects, inspired by the FAO DO GOOD SAVE FOOD education material, a new project was launched on 'Saving Food' following the DO GOOD SAVE FOOD tool kit developed by FAO and IFWC (more here). These include implementing the '9 tips to reduce Food Waste' and 'keeping a diary' in the student's individual life, family and school life. To this end, the students have interview academic experts, school cafeteria managers and supermarket managers. Furthermore, students had to propose tips to their schools and supermarkets on food waste reductions. The students were also required to explain the effects of food waste on climate change, as well as, difference between food waste and food loss. Finally, the students had to interact with each other (between Indian and Dutch schools) to better understand the food waste perspectives in India and the Netherlands. We had 20 schools (Dutch and Indian) comprised of 92 childer aged 14 - 16 participating.
