The FAO Inter-Regional Technical Platform on Water Scarcity (iRTP-WS) will take part in Cairo Water Week (CWW) 2025 under the overarching theme “Water for Climate Action.” Through a dedicated booth, the Platform will showcase its latest knowledge products, interactive tools and solution packages, offering a space for dialogue, partnership and collaboration around sustainable water management in agriculture.
Cairo Water Week serves as one of the most influential global events on water policy and science. It will convene policymakers, researchers, development partners, civil society and private sector actors under the theme “Water for Climate Action.” This year’s participation of iRTP-WS aligns strategically with this theme. While CWW provides a global convening platform, iRTP-WS brings a unique inter-regional and technical perspective to the water–agriculture nexus, reinforcing the link between water security, climate resilience and sustainable food systems. Under its current technical focus for 2024–2025, “Integrated Water Solutions: Navigating Climate Change and WEFE Nexus Dynamics,” the Platform seeks to highlight how integrated, science-based and participatory solutions can transform the way water scarcity is addressed.
At Cairo Water Week 2025, the iRTP-WS booth will operate as both a knowledge hub and an interactive meeting point. It will display the Platform’s latest technical outputs and host a series of daily events designed to connect experts, policymakers and practitioners across regions. Visitors will be invited to discover the iRTP-WS 2024–2025 Workplan and Solution Packages showcasing practical pathways for building water-resilient agri-food systems; explore cross-regional collaboration through South–South partnerships and inter-regional exchanges of innovation and best practice; experience the WEFE Nexus in action through demonstrations illustrating the interconnectedness of water, energy, food and ecosystems; engage with interactive knowledge products and tools, including reports, digital platforms and multimedia materials and meet iRTP-WS experts to share ideas and explore potential avenues for collaboration. The booth will serve as a catalyst for joint action and shared ownership of solutions to water scarcity.
Throughout the week, the booth will host daily technical presentations introducing the Platform’s mandate, results and solution packages; interactive dialogues and digital demonstrations on WEFE-related tools and innovations; partner testimonies and bilateral meetings to strengthen cooperation and showcase field results and special thematic sessions focusing on the role of academia, women and youth in advancing water-resilient agriculture. A detailed day-by-day schedule is available.
By participating in Cairo Water Week 2025, iRTP-WS reaffirms its commitment to advancing integrated water solutions, strengthening regional and global partnerships and translating knowledge into action for water-secure, climate-resilient agri-food systems.
Join us at the iRTP-WS Booth and be part of the collective effort to shape smarter, more sustainable futures for our planet’s most precious resource.
