Salinity solutions for crop production

29/02/2024

The e-learning series "Salinity solutions for crop production" provides an overview of soil salinization and presents some strategies to mitigate and adapt to this phenomenon. The measures and practices presented in the series are based on an assessment of options for saline agriculture in Asia and the Pacific and can be applied at a global level to control soil salinity in similar agroecological areas.

The series consists of the following courses:

Measures for coping with soil salinity
The course provides an overview of soil salinization and some strategies to deal with it. In particular, it presents various measures to effectively manage and mitigate the impact of soil salinization on agricultural productivity, including irrigation and drainage, agronomic, chemical, and biological measures.

The course explores effective practices for coping with soil salinity in the Asia-Pacific Region. Some practical examples and case studies of successful salinity management practices are introduced and analysed, to identify implementation features, benefits, challenges and applicability to similar contexts.
