The 3rd Small-Scale Fisheries Summit (SSF Summit 2026) will bring together small-scale fishers and fish workers, Indigenous Peoples, governments, civil society organizations, research institutions, non-governmental organizations, and supporting stakeholders to discuss and advance the implementation of the SSF Guidelines.
Following on from the successful 2022 and 2024 Summits, the SSF Summit 2026 aims to provide a space for dialogue, learning and exchange, in particular among small scale fisher representatives, as well as with decision-makers, NGOs and academia. In addition to knowledge sharing, the SSF Summit 2026 aims to generate ideas for future collaborative actions at global, regional and national levels.
The 3rd SSF Summit will center on selected thematic pillars, which are currently being developed through an ongoing consultative process, led by the IPC – Working Group on Fisheries. The consultative process involves, first and foremost, organizations representing small scale fishers at regional and global levels, along with participation from non-governmental organizations, academia, and technical experts.
The SSF Summit 2026 is scheduled to be held from 4 to 6 September, at the FAO Headquarters in Rome, Italy, immediately prior to the 37th Committee on Fisheries (COFI).

Interested organizations are invited to submit their completed forms, highlighting their relevant work, experience, and anticipated contributions to advancing the implementation of the SSF Guidelines. As in previous SSF Summits, the majority of participants will be small-scale fisheries representatives, reflecting a global regional balance and the representation of women, youth and Indigenous Peoples.
