In 2013, UNESCO declared both the traditional Japanese Washoku diet and the Mediterranean diet part of the world’s intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO in 2013.

On the 150th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Italy, this symposium invites us to learn from experience to shape food systems that deliver on healthy diets and establish effective partnerships.

In line with the Sustainable Development Goals, the ICN2 Rome Declaration and under the Decade of Action for Nutrition declared earlier this year, we encourage countries to seek effective partnerships to address malnutrition in all its forms.
