After a successful first edition, Junior World Food Day is back in October. Join us online for stories and conversation, the launch of the new #FoodHeroes music video, and more. Last year, European Space Agency astronaut and FAO Goodwill Ambassador, Thomas Pesquet surprised us with a message from outer space. This year, he’s back on Earth and will participate alongside other exciting guest speakers including Lebanese media professional and FAO Goodwill Ambassador Darine El Khatib and Spanish chef and food hero Joan Roca for an event that is guaranteed to inspire action. The event will also feature messages from FAO teams working in countries around the world that are experiencing food crises.

Agricultural aid: A game plan to tackle the
hunger crisis
13 October, 15.00 – 16.00 CEST, virtual event
Year after year, the number of acutely food insecure people has risen relentlessly, despite an increase in humanitarian aid. By treating the symptoms of hunger rather than its causes, we have missed an opportunity to reverse suffering. Doing the same thing the same way is no longer an option. Join us to rethink ways in which we can tackle acute hunger, leaving no one behind. The event will include voices from those affected by hunger and interventions from FAO Director- General QU Dongyu, Rein Paulsen, Director, FAO Office of Emergencies and Resilience, resource partners and NGO and media representatives. Stay tuned for more details.
Every year, a large number of events – from marathons and hunger marches to exhibitions and light shows, cultural performances, contests and concerts – are organised in up to 150 countries across the world to celebrate World Food Day.
