MEDIA ADVISORY: Final call for media accreditation |

Government Ministers and senior officials from 46 member countries will gather in Putrajaya, Malaysia to participate in the 33rd FAO Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific (APRC33). The Conference will be held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre, 7 – 11 March. The entire Session is open to accredited media.

Advance media accreditation is essential (see instructions below)

The Conference will focus discussions on ensuring future food security for the world’s most populous region, which is home to 62 percent of the world’s most chronically hungry people. The debates will take place amid a backdrop of growing populations, an aging agricultural workforce, a need to make aquaculture and fisheries more productive and environmentally sustainable, effects of climate change on agriculture and natural resources, changing diets, and, ultimately, to discuss ways to produce 60 – 80 percent more nutritious food to feed the world, which is expected to be home to some nine billion people by 2050.

In attendance will be FAO specialists and senior officials who can address journalists’ questions on a variety of food and agricultural issues. FAO Director-General, José Graziano da Silva will address the Conference on the penultimate day (10th March).
