Asia NewsFlash: A glass of Asian milk for every Asian child

It is common knowledge that a daily glass of milk can make a big difference in improving the nutrition of children -- and at the same time has great benefits to health and education of youth.  The increased consumption of milk and other milk products by the vast populations in Asia, however, come at a high cost. Indeed, the demand for milk has grown faster than the local production. As a result, Asia is highly dependent on milk imports which may reach 400 million tonnes by 2050, unless milk production in the region is stepped up. Today we have Vinod Kumar Ahuja with us. Vinod is the livestock policy officer at the FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, based in Bangkok. We will ask Vinod the rational for dairy production and consumption.
