The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations marks World Food Day each year on 16 October, the day on which the Organization was founded in 1945.
Romanian farmers and national leaders came together in Bucharest last week for a national conference under an emphatic banner: “Family Farms—The Core of Sustainable Agriculture.”
FAO signed the Agreement on 7 October under which the Brazilian federal government will commit US$ 150 000 to the Multilateral Trust Fund of the International Year of Family Farming, administered by the organization.
Nowadays, there is growing international awareness of the importance of meeting the information and communication needs of rural people and the vital role that communication can play in empowering them to take action.
