The Sudan removes the subsidy on wheat imports

13/10/2015,

As of the end of September, the Sudan removed the special subsidized USD/Sudanese pound exchange rate that was previously available for importation of wheat. The special exchange rate was set at 2.9 Sudanese pounds per dollar for wheat imports instead of the normal rate of 4 Sudanese pounds per dollar. The removal of the subsidy follows the global reduction in wheat prices which has made wheat importation more favourable, even at the normal rate of exchange.
