Cote D’Ivoire sets minimum cocoa prices and issues more export licenses for the 2015/16 marketing year

13/10/2015,

Cote D’Ivoire has set the minimum farm-gate price for a kilogram of cocoa at 1 000 CFA (USD 1.70). The measure aims at supporting farmers by setting a guaranteed price for forward sales of the 2015/16 marketing year. The Government has been gradually increasing the minimum prices since it introduced the price setting scheme during the 2011/12 marketing year. Additionally, the Ivorian Coffee and Cocoa Council (CCC) granted licences to 113 companies and cooperatives to export cocoa during the 2015/16 marketing year, up from 80 licenses granted in the preceding year. Cote D’Ivoire continues to be the world’s largest producer of cocoa.
