The Russian Federation increases intervention prices for the 2015 wheat crop

27/10/2015,

The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation has revised upwards the minimum prices for 2015 wheat crop purchases by the State Intervention Fund. Purchasing at the new higher prices is expected to start from 27 October. The Intervention Fund price for wheat Class 3 is now set at 10 900 RUB (169 USD) per tonne, the price for wheat Class 4 is set at 10 400 RUB (161 USD) per tonne and the price for wheat Class 5 (feed quality) is set at 8 800 RUB (136 USD) per tonne for all federal districts of the country. The new prices of milling wheat classes 3 and 4 were increased by some 14 percent and 18 percent from their previous levels set in March, respectively, and are the highest in the past ten years. The purpose of the measure is to encourage farmers’ sales to the State Intervention Fund, following a slow rate of procurement so far since the beginning of this year’s intervention purchases in late August.
