The impact of the El Niño-linked drought on domestic agricultural production in 2024 and consequently, national cereal supplies, is anticipated to be a key driver of inflationary pressure this year; the country is expected to not export any maize grain in 2024/25, in contrast to previous years when it was the second leading exporter of maize in the subregion.
