Extended abstract submission, deadline is approaching fast

Open until 15 February 2018

12/02/2018

The Global Symposium on Soil Pollution (GSOP18) will take place at FAO headquarters in Rome on 2 - 4 May, 2018. The Symposium aims to provide scientific evidence to support actions and decisions to prevent and reduce soil pollution for increased food safetysecurity and nutrition, and ecosystem services, while promoting the restoration of polluted sites. The Symposium will explore promising research related to soil management practices, policies, and action plans for minimizing soil pollution with a focus on remediation and prevention. With this bold action, the organizers are pursuing the benefit of uncovering the reality of soil pollution.

The Symposium will feature internationally recognized keynote speakers and presenters, networking opportunities, interactive sessions, and a technical corner. The book "Soil Pollution, a hidden reality" will be launched on the first day of the Symposium. The concept note provides more information on the objectives, themes and main questions that will be discussed during the Symposium.

The deadline for the abstract submission is approaching fast. As a reminder, the Organizing Committee of the Global Symposium on Soil Pollution (GSOP18) is currently accepting extended abstracts that will compete for oral presentations during this Symposium.

The extended abstracts should address one of the following symposium themes:

THEME 1 | Soil pollution on agricultural fields and other land uses;

THEME 2 | The impact of soil pollution on food production and safety, the environment and overall human well-being;

THEME 3 | Remediation of polluted sites;

THEME 4 | Global status of soil pollution.

The extended abstracts should be written in English, with a limit of 3000 words and follow the template available here.

The Scientific Committee will review the submitted extended abstracts and assess them following the criteria specified in the call. Authors of accepted extended abstracts will be contacted via email by 15 March 2017 and details for oral presentations will be provided. A number of extended abstracts, not selected for oral presentations will be selected for poster presentations and relevant authors will also be notified via email with guidelines for poster preparation.

Deadline for extended abstract submission: 15 February 2018
