The PTC aims to provide day-to-day oversight to programme implementation which is considered critical if standards for implementation are to meet the highest levels as set by European Union regulations and international best practice.

The PTC is chaired by the FAO project coordination and all implementation partners and FAO national consultants are represented at the meetings. Monthly conference calls allow the review of progress across the project components and allow for discussion on issues which may arise. The monthly calls are supplemented by quarterly face to face meetings where the membership of the committee is widened to include country representatives and in some cases other UN Agencies working in the same technical area.
