International Day of Forests – Forest restoration: a path to recovery and well-being

Virtual Meeting
19.03.2021
 Rome time

Virtual high-level opening ceremony of the 2021 International Day of Forests. Award-winning Guardian journalist Fiona Harvey will lead us in an engaging discussion with high-level dignities among the advocates for forests and restoration. The opening ceremony will be followed by in-depth technical sessions on “Building back better: fostering the transition to bloom the dryland forests and agrosilvopastoral systems” and “Sustainable financing for achieving forest and landscape restoration (FLR) at scale: making FLR a reality.” Healthy forests mean healthy people. Forests provide health benefits for everyone: fresh air, nutritious foods, clean water, and recreation space. In developed countries, up to 25 percent of all medicinal drugs are plant-based; in developing countries, the number is as high as 80 percent.
