منذ عام 1974، قدمت منظمة الأغذية والزراعة للأمم المتحدة (الفاو) الدعم لبلدانها الأعضاء للتعريف بالمخرجات البحثية الخاصة بها وتسهيل الوصول إليها وذلك من خلال فاو أجريس، وهو واحد من أشمل محركات البحث في الإنتاج الفكرى العلمي الغذائي والزراعي حيث يتيح الوصول المجاني إلى ملايين التسجيلات الببليوغرافية ل 260 لغة مختلفة.
تتولى فاو أجريس إدارة وتيسير شبكة أجريس، حيث تساهم مئات المنظمات من جميع أنحاء العالم بالمعرفة والبيانات في منصة أجريس، وقد أسفرت هذه الإسهامات عن إنشاء مجموعة ببليوغرافية متعددة اللغات للبحث العلمي في مجالي الغذاء والزراعة، مع التركيز بشكل خاص على المعلومات العلمية الصادرة من بلدان الجنوب. لذلك، يتم استخدام قاعدة بيانات أجريس بواسطة كُل من يرغب في العثور على مؤلفات وإنتاج فكرى حول أي مجال من مجالات اهتمام منظمة الفاو.

Why AGRIS's Pre-Digital Records Matter More Than Ever

FAO AGRIS was established in 1975 to facilitate international access to agricultural science and technology information by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. Today, the database includes bibliographic records dating back to 1,900. More than 3 million records originate from the period prior to 1990, when scholarly communication was predominantly print-based and preceded the widespread adoption of web publishing. This long historical coverage positions FAO AGRIS as a structured archive of agricultural knowledge spanning over a century of documented research and technical information.
