Catalan Institution of Agrarian Studies (ICEA)

Spain
The origins of the Institució Catalana d’Estudis Agraris, ICEA, are found in a group of people, linked to Catalan agriculture, who, after the dictatorship, see the need to return to the milestones that the agricultural sciences had had during the years of the Commonwealth and the Generalitat. The ICEA is a branch of the Institute of Catalan Studies (IEC), attached to the Section of Biological Sciences.

The ICEA is a scientific, technical, cultural, and intellectual organization dedicated to reflection, study, and discussion of various topics related to Catalan agriculture, livestock, forestry, and rural life. ICEA is an independent and plural institution. Its activities are non-profit and rely on the voluntary commitment of its members. It is funded through membership fees, support from the IEC, and special grants received for specific activities from various sources. ICEA’s activities extend across the Catalan-speaking and culturally Catalan territories.
