Delft University of Technology—commonly known as TU Delft—is the oldest and largest technical university in the Netherlands, founded on 8 January 1842 by King Willem II as a Royal Academy for training engineers and civil servants. It later evolved through stages as a Polytechnic School and Technical College before becoming TU Delft in 1986.
