The Instituto de Investigaciones de Granos (Grain Research Institute) is a scientific and technical institution dedicated to research and innovation in grain production. Its work focuses on developing and improving grain crops such as rice, beans, soy, sorghum, maize, peanuts, sesame, and chickpeas to support Cuba’s agricultural systems. It conducts scientific research, genetic improvement, pest and disease control, seed production, and related services while conserving and characterizing the genetic resources of the grain varieties it studies. Its mission is to contribute to food and animal feed production by providing up‑to‑date scientific and technical knowledge and services to producers.
