The Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development, as the research and policy-making arm of the Environmental Protection Organization, is operating based on the definitive approval of the Higher Education Development Council and with four research groups: Environmental Economics, Environmental Assessment and Risks, Biodiversity and Biosafety, Environmental Engineering, and Pollutant Monitoring. According to the statute approved by the Higher Education Development Council, the Institute is located in Tehran and is currently located on the northwest side of Pardisan Park. Of course, it can have workshop units throughout the country.
The main mission of the Institute is to help fulfill the fiftieth article of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran in order to protect the environment and ensure the proper and continuous use of the environment in a way that, by maintaining the balance of biological relations, sustainable development and improvement of growth and quality of life of humans are provided. In this regard, it has a close relationship with the deputy departments of the Environment
