Postgraduate College (Colpos)

The Colegio de Postgraduados (Colpos) is a Mexican educational institution dedicated to education, research and outreach in agricultural sciences. It was founded in 1959, as part of the then National School of Agriculture (now Chapingo Autonomous University).
In 1979, by presidential decree, it became a decentralized public body of the federal government with its own legal personality and assets sectored in the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (Sagarpa). The creation decree of 1979 conferred on the College of Postgraduates the mandate to "provide postgraduate education, conduct research, and provide services and technical assistance in agricultural and forestry matters." In this sense, the Colegio de Postgraduados teaches to investigate and investigates to teach in a context of integral connection with its environment under a system of campuses located in Campeche, Campeche; Montecillo, State of Mexico; Puebla, Puebla; San Luis Potosi, SLP; Cordoba, Veracruz; Cárdenas, Tabasco, and Tepetates, Veracruz.[citation needed]
In 2001, it was recognized as a Public Research Center by Sagarpa itself and by the National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt). Since 2002, it has signed a Performance Agreement with the Federal Public Administration, with multi-year goals related to its substantive activities, which are qualified by an External Evaluation Committee.
