University of Kurdistan (UOK) is a public higher education institution located in Sanandaj, the capital of Kurdistan Province in western Iran. It was originally established in 1974 as the Sanandaj Higher College and later expanded into a comprehensive university. Today, UOK hosts several faculties, including Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment, Engineering, Basic Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Art & Architecture.
The university is known for its active research in agriculture, plant production, natural resources management, soil and water engineering, rangeland and watershed management, ecology, and sustainable development. The University of Kurdistan also publishes several scientific journals in agricultural and environmental sciences.
