University of Latvia (LU)
Latvia
The University of Latvia (LU) was founded on September 28, 1919, but its origins can be traced back even earlier – to the second half of the 19th century, when Latvian public and cultural figures called on Latvians to strive for knowledge and quality education. The Congress of Latvian Teachers and Education Workers, which took place in Estonia, Tērbat, from 7 to 13 June 1917, was of decisive importance in the implementation of the idea of a national university.
