The Centro de Investigación Cientifica de Yucatán, A.C. (CICY), is a public research centre of the National Council for Science and Technology (CONACYT), dedicated to scientific and technological research and professional training in the areas of chemistry, biochemistry, plant molecular biology, biotechnology, water sciences, materials, natural resources and renewable energy, which aims to contribute to the sustainable development of the Yucatan Peninsula and Mexico, in collaboration with other national and foreign scientific institutions and through its links with various sectors of academia and society in general. It is legally integrated as a civil association under the laws of Mexico and operates within the System of Public Research Centres of CONACYT.
