Algeria hosts a dynamic network of data providers contributing rich agricultural and scientific knowledge to AGRIS. From applied economic research to aquaculture, these institutions are shaping the future of sustainable development in the region. Explore their profiles and thematic focuses below.

Center Research Economy Applied Pour Le Développement (Cread)

As a public scientific and technological institution since 2003, CREAD operates under Algeria’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The center focuses on applied economic research aimed at supporting development policies with an intersectoral approach.

Center for Research in Agropastoralism (CRAPast)

Established in 2019 and supervised by the Minister of Scientific Research, CRAPast specialises in agropastoral systems with a sectoral focus. Located in Djelfa, it promotes sustainable livestock and agricultural practices in arid and semi-arid environments.

National Centre for Research and Development of Fisheries and Aquaculture (CNRDPA)

This centre is Algeria’s sole institution dedicated to fisheries and aquaculture research. Created in 2018, it advances scientific knowledge to promote sustainable exploitation of aquatic resources while protecting ecosystems. General Directorate for Scientific Research and Technological Development (DGRSDT)

Institut National de la Vulgarisation Agricole (INVA)

Founded in 1995, INVA serves as a key actor in agricultural extension and rural communication, supporting the Ministry of Agriculture’s efforts to improve farming practices and rural development through technical assistance and outreach. INVA contributes over 1,300 records in AGRIS on agricultural yields, water management, soil management, development projects, broiler chicken production, forestry, sheep farming and more. This university’s ecosystem protection laboratory studies flora, camel breeding, desertification, and biodiversity in arid and semi-arid zones, vital for the Sahara region sustainability.
