To answer the challenges that dairy and meat business in Central Asia has to tackle today, the EBRD and FAO have joined forces to offer new digital solutions to build resilience and contribute to more efficient, resilient and inclusive agrifood systems. The Agrokomek app has just been launched in Kazhakstan.

This three-day event, which will take place from 11th to 13th July in Amman, Jordan, aims at assisting countries in the NENA region in the development of their e-agriculture national strategy and consequently to further promote and invest in digital agriculture.

The virtual event ’Digital Villages in action in Europe and Central Asia’ launched today the Digital Villages Initiative in eight countries across the region.

Launched in 2021, the FAO's global Digital Villages Initiative promotes digital innovations in rural communities to improve livelihoods, well-being, and social cohesion in this region.

FAO in Europe and Central Asia (REU), along with its partners in Albania, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan, is taking action to accelerate the digital transformation of agriculture and rural areas through the Digital Villages Initiative (DVI). 

FAO AgroInformatics TechTalks are interactive expert talks hosted by FAO Digitalization and Informatics Division (CSI) inviting agroinformatics experts to foster peer-to-peer discussion and strengthen links within the agroinformatics community and beyond.

Agricultural statistics play a paramount role in efficient water use and water management. FAO estimates that around 70 percent of freshwater withdrawals go into agriculture.

The 2023 edition of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum organized by ITU, UNESCO, UNDP and UNCTAD from the 13th to the 17th of March under the theme, “Action Lines for building back better and accelerating the achievement of the SDGs” concretely illustrated this vision through an intensive week of successful information exchanges, knowledge creation and sharing of best practices, in close collaboration with all WSIS action line co-/facilitators and other UN Organizations that gathered in Geneva to better identify emerging trends and foster partnerships together.
