البيرة (الجعة) هي واحدة من أقدم المشروبات المعروفة اليوم. ترتبط ثقافة التخمير ارتباطًا وثيقًا بالزراعة. يتم إنتاج اثنين من ثلاثة مكونات (الشعير والجنجل) من الزراعة. يمكن استخدام أي نوع من الحبوب تقريبًا لإنتاج منقوع الشعير ، ولكن من الأفضل استخدام نبات الراي أو الشعير. تخلى البشر عبر التاريخ ، عن العديد من العادات ، وتغيرت حياة الإنسان العاقل بشكل لا يمكن التعرف عليه ، لكن البيرة (الجعة) تظل الرفيق الدائم.
