Dialogues on Amazon Bioeconomy: Inclusive Rural Transformation

Context

Within the scope of the Amazon Dialogues initiative promoted by the Government of Brazil, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is supporting the organization of the technical event "Dialogues on Amazon Bioeconomy and Inclusive Rural Transformation".

This event aims to promote a common understanding among Amazonian countries on the adoption of an Amazonian bioeconomy model through the transformation of agri-food systems, where no one is left behind, as established by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Agenda 2030, emphasizing the fulfillment of SDG 1 - End Poverty, SDG 2 - Zero Hunger and SDG 10 - Reduce Inequalities.

 

Objective

Promote the exchange of knowledge and the consolidation of interdisciplinary visions among Amazonian countries for the generation of technical proposals for Amazonian bioeconomy and inclusive rural transformation focused on SDGs 1, 2 and 10, to serve as input for the consideration of the Heads of State in the framework of the Amazon Dome in August 2023

1. Zero hunger and the fight against poverty in the Amazon and the reduction of inequalities.

2. Governance of land tenure, forests and natural resources in the Amazon.

3.        Family agriculture - challenges and opportunities for sustainable food production in the context of the Amazon biome. 

4.        New agroforestry enterprises, climate-environmental financing and favorable environment for bio-businesses in the Amazon.

5.        Amazonian cities, agri-food systems and food supply.

6.        The perspective of Indigenous People, Afro-descendants and Amazonian Traditional Communities - emphasis on gender and youth.
