The Organization convened an Operational Partners Implementation Modality (OPIM) workshop in Jamaica to strengthen institutional capacity, coordination and partnerships in support of effective project implementation and long-term food security and climate resilience outcomes across the Caribbean.

15 farmers and over 20 government officials and private sector stakeholders comprised the initial group who participated in the week-long mission and workshop.

The meeting gathered contributions and recommendations from the private sector to strengthen the definition of regional priorities in food and agriculture, ahead of the 39th Session of the FAO Regional Conference, to be held in March in Brasilia. 

The meeting brought together universities, research centers and experts to formulate technical recommendations, draft a sectoral declaration and define spokespersons who will contribute to FAO’s priorities for the next biennium, ahead of the Regional Conference to be held in March in Brasília.

The primary objective of the scoping mission, conducted from 25 to 29 August 2025, was to assess the needs and opportunities for implementing sustainable agricultural mechanization for the vegetable sector in Saint Lucia.
