Participants were interviewed face-to-face between 27 March and 29 October 2021. Farm surveys were conducted along with the collection of faucal and milk samples for AMR testing. After completion of the survey, participants were provided with an information leaflet on the use of antibiotics in livestock, and misconceptions were explained to them.

The report is aimed at analysing Armenia's legal, policy, and socioeconomic environment for CEPA implementation, identifying gaps, and providing recommendations for alignment.The project comprises three main components: legal analysis, agricultural policy analysis, and socioeconomic data analysis. The legal analysis aims to identify CEPA provisions related to agriculture, assess the current legal framework, and make recommendations for regulatory changes.

FAO has been supporting the Government of Armenia to find effective pathways out of poverty and food insecurity for rural households. This promising practice documents an integrated nutrition-sensitive cash+ approach piloted for the first time in the country in the Gyulagarak community in the Lori region, and in the Marmashen community in the Shirak region.

Military escalation in 2020 across the Nagorno Karabakh borders led to the displacement of around 90 000 people from the Nagorno Karabakh conflict zone. A multisector needs assessment conducted in 2020 found 68% of arrivals required food assistance. Around 80% were hosted by families whose resources were strained, reducing their purchasing power. By December 2020, 31% of host households reported needing food aid—far above Armenia’s pre-conflict average of 16%.

Armenia’s agriculture represents the main economic source in rural areas and significantly contributes to the country’s GDP, employing about 30 percent of the working population. Aligned with Armenia’s national development priorities, FAO's programme has been well aligned with national priorities focusing on provision of highly specialized technical expertise towards the development of national policies, institutions, and also offering innovative approaches and solutions.
