This report showcases examples of actions taken by small-scale fishers and aquaculture farmers in Asia to restore the productivity of aquatic ecosystems.
Making way: developing national legal and policy frameworks for pastoral mobility
01/02/2022
This handbook calls for the legal recognition and securing of pastoral mobility as a way of safeguarding and facilitating a continuous stream of economic and social benefits for pastoralists, countries, and the environment. It facilitates a deeper understanding of pastoral mobility through examples and case studies drawn from various parts of the world and identifies considerations to be borne in mind when legislating for mobility.
Climate change, biodiversity and nutrition nexus
01/12/2021
This paper identifies entry points within agrifood systems to improve biodiversity and diets, such as sustainable use of genetic resources, climate-smart agriculture, sustainable management of marine ecosystems, and consumer education.
Addressing the human-wildlife conflict to improve people’s livelihoods
01/11/2021
Human population growth increases the demand for natural resources in many parts of the world. This has led to the degradation and fragmentation of wildlife habitats, with humans and livestock encroaching on natural habitats. Wildlife is increasingly competing with humans for limited natural resources resulting in an increase in human and wildlife conflicts (HWCs).
Report on monitoring schemes and data collection on biodiversity for food and agriculture in Eastern Europe and Central Asia
01/10/2021
Biodiversity protection encompasses key aspects directly related to the sustainability of our food systems: BFA provides a diverse and heterogenous biological basis for diverse and resilient production systems, for the pollination of cultures, for increased diversity of food, and is strongly linked to local and indigenous knowledge on local crops and breeds acknowledged as cultural heritage.
