The alliance between FAO and ALIDE seeks to promote the strengthening of strategies for effective financing of agricultural and rural development in Latin American and the Caribbean, aiming to improve food security, reduce levels of rural poverty and promote gender equality through initiatives such as studies and research, training and information exchange. In addition, it seeks the promotion of the “Hand-In-Hand” initiative, which aims to stimulate public and private investments to accelerate the transformation towards more efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agri-food systems.

FAO and Biodiversity Partnership Mesoamerica (BPM) aim to foster innovation on and to strengthen experiences focused on the sustainable use and conservation of biodiversity for food and agriculture in Central America. The collaboration will promote joint, coordinated and complementary actions that will directly support rural small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), producer organizations, cooperatives and associations to increase their economic opportunities through sustainable and resilient value chains that are based on biodiversity products and services.

This partnership aims to provide expertise and evidence-based materials, including FAO data and statistics, for the making of a film. The partnership covers topics such as, but not limited to, water-related activities to promote agrifood systems transformation to achieve the Four Betters (better production, better nutrition, better environment and better life). Among other objectives, it seeks to undertake initiatives and exchange resources to promote and disseminate best practices in water management.

This partnership will promote and strengthen joint actions and projects which have the potential to improve the employability of youth and women in agro-sylvo-pastoral value chains and reduce rural poverty. The collaboration will focus on strengthening technical capacities and mobilizing financial support for these objectives, and creating new model companies for the benefit of groups of young people and women involved agro-sylvo-pastoral, fisheries and wildlife value chains.

This partnership will support regional, national and local financial institutions in boosting agricultural financing for sustainable agrifood systems investment, including financing to smallholder and family farmers and small and medium agrifood enterprises. The collaboration also envisages support to private investment for sustainable agrifood systems, including policy support and promotion of innovative financing approaches such as blended finance. Other potential engagement areas include the Food Coalition and the Hand-in-Hand Initiative. The closer collaboration between the two entities will provide an opportunity to mobilize financial resources, policy assistance support and technical expertise to contribute to agri-food systems transformation with large scale impacts...
