Showcasing two of its flagship initiatives in the area of digital transformation, FAO will host two interactive Innovation Talks at the FAO Science and Innovation Forum 2023 (SIF 2023).

FAO's new Agroinformatics Platform (AP) aims to showcase through its expansion all the new possibilities and horizons that are opening now to enable more targeted interventions on the ground. 

On International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste, the spotlight shines on the launch of the FAO Food Loss App (FLAPP), a groundbreaking initiative in the global battle against food loss and waste. 

FAO's special event at SIF2023 ‘AI and Digital Tools for Climate Resilient AgriFood Systems’ will take place on Thursday 19th October, 14.30-16.00 CEST to showcase concrete examples of technological innovations that aim at transforming traditional agricultural practices into sophisticated, data-driven systems that will protect efficiently our people and our planet. 

Building on the DSP model and ESA’s experience in designing and evaluate policy instruments, with the valuable support of the national Country Office, FAO has developed a comprehensive e-extension platform called “Smart Extension and Efficient Decision-making (S.E.E.D) Hub”

To answer the challenges that dairy and meat business in Central Asia has to tackle today, the EBRD and FAO have joined forces to offer new digital solutions to build resilience and contribute to more efficient, resilient and inclusive agrifood systems. The Agrokomek app has just been launched in Kazhakstan.

This three-day event, which will take place from 11th to 13th July in Amman, Jordan, aims at assisting countries in the NENA region in the development of their e-agriculture national strategy and consequently to further promote and invest in digital agriculture.

As Digitalization is now more than ever critical for accelerating the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at all levels, the UN Food Stocktaking Moment special event on ‘Digitalization for Resilient Agrifood systems’ will be held in Rome on the 25^th July, 14h30-15h30 CEST.

Country Representatives of FAO, IFAD and WFP in Rwanda  visited fellow women producers and cross border traders to celebrate International Women’s Day under the theme: “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality:  Leveraging the transformative power of inclusive digitalization and innovation for rural women and girls." 

Membership will help FAO contribute to making digital tools and knowledge products more accessible to farmers
