SFERA is FAO's flexible humanitarian fund for rapid action in food crises. It is the fastest, most direct way to channel your support to people affected by emergencies. For over 20 years, SFERA contributors have been there first for communities – before their losses multiply, become permanent or lead to displacement.

SFERA is built for every stage of a crisis. It deploys advance funding for immediate use, enables rapid assessment of urgent needs, and fast tracks assistance to those in need. It funds the essentials to protect and restore people’s access to food: seeds in time for planting, veterinary care and supplies to keep livestock alive, quick infrastructure repairs to reduce exposure to flood, drought or other hazards. Through early and anticipatory action, the fund reduces both human suffering and humanitarian costs.

Predictable, flexible funding has never been more urgent. Food crises are multiplying, funding gaps are widening, and fewer people are being reached. SFERA directs resources to the highest priority needs in real time – ensuring action, not abandonment, for the most vulnerable. Through SFERA, donors deliver as first responders and Grand Bargain partners.
