FAO emergencies and resilience

FAO is deeply concerned about the food security situation in Ukraine. The war that began on 24 February 2022 has caused extensive damage and loss of life in key population centres, spread across rural areas, and sparked massive displacement.

Now in its seventh year, the conflict in eastern Ukraine continues to impact the food security and livelihoods of more than a million people, particularly women, children, the elderly and people with disabilities.

The number of people experiencing hunger – both chronic and acute – has been persistently high in recent years.
