Famine is confirmed in El Fasher and Kadugli, with a risk of famine in 20 additional areas across Greater Darfur and Greater Kordofan between October 2025 and May 2026. Violent conflict, restricted access and mass displacement continue to drive extreme levels of food insecurity across the country. FAO is scaling up crop, livestock and fisheries support for vulnerable households to enhance local food production in the face of a humanitarian crisis of epic proportions.
